South Sudanese defender on AFC Leopards’ radar

AFC Leopards are keen on adding former Kariobangi Sharks defender John Kuol to their roster after they managed to raise funds that will see the transfer embargo that had been slapped on the team lifted. On Thursday evening, Ingwe conducted a fundraiser that saw them collect over Ksh8,000,000 million. They can now pay their former coach Andre Cassa Mbungo and ex-players Tressor Ndikumana, Soter Kayumba, and Vincent Habamahoro the monies they owed them and as a result, the transfer ban will be lifted. The team has now begun plans to rebuild, to replace the players they lost. Among those set to move to The Den is Kuol who is now a free agent after parting ways with Kariobangi Sharks. The towering South Sudanese defender ended his three-year stay with Sharks at the end of last season and he could be set for a move to rebuilding 12-time champions.South Sudan is undoubtedly one of the most exciting new talent recruitment destinations in Africa and this week we profile one of its best young defenders, 21-year-old centre back John Kuol. 🇸🇸 pic.twitter.com/JUvu5ZvqQl— East African Eye (@theeaeye) September 15, 2021 “Kuol trained with the team for a few days before the season began but he stopped because there were uncertainties about if the team would be in a position to sign players this window due to the ban and that’s why he was considering other options. Now that the ban will be lifted the coaching staffs are considering signing him and other players,” a source from The Den told Mozzart Sport.Ingwe had lost many players due to financial challenges and were facing turbulent times. Among those who ditched the club is Elvis Rupia who moved to Saudi Arabia, Harrison Mwendwa who is now with Kabwe Warriors of Zambia, Hansel Ochieng and Tsuma Said now with Sofapaka, Benjamin Ochan who rejoined KCCA, Yusuf Mainge who has joined rivals Gor Mahia, Robinson Kamura who moved to KCB among others.Players linked with a move to Ingwe include Duncan Otieno, Clifton Miheso, and John Makwatta.
