Twins after each other – their mom heads to the church and then to the stands

Even though Ajax has two victories in the Champions League, PSV scored four goals in Graz in the Europa League, Feyenoord managed to beat Slavia Prague in the Conference League – the main topic in Holland at the end of the week is the clash of the twins. The Timber brothers face each other at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam.Jurrien is the defender of the current champion and Quinten plays in the midfield for Utrecht. Twin brothers born on the 17th of July 2001 will play against each other. What makes all of this more interesting is that they are headed to the match together, by car, from the family home in Utrecht, only 52 kilometers away from Amsterdam. Their mother Marilyn will first go to church, to the Sunday Mass, and then to the stadium. She admits that her heart is breaking, because not so long ago she washed the dishes in a restaurant in order to provide the children with conditions to train and play football. And here they are now – all those sacrifices paid off.An emotional message by Marilyn can be see on social media as she will see her sons on opposite sides of the pitch for the first time. Thanks mum 😘#TimbervsTimber #AJAUTR pic.twitter.com/LNXTk4oKIc— Quinten Timber (@QuintenTimber) October 3, 2021 They both started at the local DVSU club, developed at Feyenorod’s academy at just 13 years old, then were snatched by Ajax as greats potentials. Through five years of experience in the junior squad, Jurrien reached the first team and this season he is a regular, while Quinten could not go further than the substitutes list last season. As he did not get a chance to make his debut, he realized that it was better to change the environment. So – he signed for Utrecht. What will happen if, for example, in the eighth round of the Eredivisie, the scoreboard reads 1:1 in the 90th minute, Quinten rushes towards the defence of Ajax in search of a goal worthy of victory – how would Jurrien react?”I wouldn’t beat him to death, I would just pull him by the shirt,” laughs the defender of the Amsterdam giants and continues to joke. “If he makes trouble, I might beat him. Still, we were rivals in the game. He better watch how he doesn’t annoy me.”##NAJAVA_MECA_5864760##Only once in the last nine seasons at the Ajax stadium have Utrecht taken all three points – and despite of tradition, Quinten believes a surprise can happen. If he fails to score, maybe his twin brother might help with an own goal.”No, I wouldn’t like that. I would even be ashamed. I would be happy with being on the list of scorers and for us to win that way”The brothers slept in Utrecht last night. In the same room of their small family home.”It has been so for years. Part of the pre-match ritual. It was my turn to drive to Amsterdam and his to take us back to Galgenwaard (Utrecht Stadium). “We will have the opportunity to ask each other questions about the opposing players, although we know that we will not get much info,” Jurrien points out.Quinten en Jurriën Timber delen nog altijd één slaapkamer 🛏🛏”De wedstrijd bespreken elke zaterdag- en zondagavond.”👥 Timber-clash, Ajax – FC Utrecht⏰ 14.30 uur📺 ESPN 2#️⃣ #ajautr pic.twitter.com/ThwE1OzYhs— Iedereen is gelijk (everyone is equal) (@Yew_vrijheid) October 3, 2021 Quinten continues by explaining that there is no quarantine in the Netherlands, football players are allowed to sleep where they want. They are only obliged to appear with the team at the stadium two hours before the match.”We slept in the same room and went to the match. This is normal, although it seems ridiculous. Maybe we’ll make jokes along the way. “Jurrien even reached the senior national team during the summer, Quinten is with the U23 selection. The Dutch media were most interested in the fact that they are still sleeping in the same room – which is understandable after learning that they have three more brothers and that the huge responsibility of taking them all on the right road fell on the shoulders of their mother. Her sons keep thanking her in every interview. Some dreams really do come true…
