Vihiga Queens seek to strengthen their squad in the coming days both for the CAF Champions League assignment in a month’s time and the new FKF Women’s Premier League ahead.Vihiga have a daunting task ahead of them in the CAF Champions League where they will play South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, Morocco’s ASFAR, and Nigeria’s Rivers Angels in the group stages.Already, the three-time FKF WPL champions have roped in the services of defender Dorcas Neema from Nakuru West Queens to strengthen their central defence and the CEO Mike Senelwa says that there will be more players joining the team soon.Queens posted on their social media that they have up to nine players in the Harambee Starlets call up list with the Harambee Starlets coach yet to make public his squad and Senelwa revealed that they could be more players attributed to Vihiga Queens in that list by the time the ladies report to the residential camp.”We are preparing to get the players that the coach wants both for CAF and for the domestic league because other than the Champions League we will be back for the league very soon. You shall see a few other new faces in the team as we seek to strengthen our squad,” Senelwa told Mozzart Sport.The club executive went ahead to praise the team morale ahead of the big tournament in November though the players and the technical bench are on a break but are set to resume by the end of the week to step up preparations.”The players are on a slight break but they will be resuming by the end of this week to continue their preparation from CAF assignment. But the morale in the team is top,” he added.Vihiga Queens booked a slot at the inaugural tournament after beating Ethiopia’s Commercial Bank of Ethiopia in the final of the CECAFA zone qualifiers.they will kick start their hunt for continental glory against Mamelodi Sundowns on November 6, 2021, at the Military Academy Stadium.
