Fortune Sacco honchos back club to gain automatic promotion

Fortune Sacco football club Secretary General Julius Kariuki has backed the club to gain automatic promotion to the top tier after narrowly missing out in the past season. The Kirinyaga based club was on the verge of joining the elite level but slid when it mattered most as inconsistencies in the final rounds coupled by the forfeiture of three points garnered against Shabana worked against them. The club that trailed league winners FC Talanta for the better part of the second leg settled for a fourth place finish behind Kenya Police and Vihiga Bullets who all were promoted.Fortune Sacco has been docked 3 points for fielding an ineligible player in their 3-1 victory against Shabana FC. We came close last season but it wasn’t our time. We are looking to right the wrongs we made last season and hopefully we will make it,” he said. In addition, Kariuki backed the club’s head coach Nicodemus Omasete who has since relinquished his role on the pitch to guide the club to hit its targets.Messi atasign Fortune Sacco FC Kirinyaga FC.He can’t resist the urge to play in their NSL derby game against Muranga Seal FC.Derby kubwa kuliko El Clasico tbh— Steve Ruigu Njuguna (@Joashnjuguna) August 5, 2021  Last season, Omasete was tasked to play and at the same time man the touchline but the administrator confirmed that the midfielder has transitioned into coaching and will be in charge. “Applications by coaches are flying in but we will stick with Omasete despite his inexperience in coaching. He is a loyal guy who has been with us from division two and we will offer him the support he requires so that he can deliver,”he assured. Meanwhile, Kariuki revealed that the youthful tactician requested for seven new players to be signed before the season kicks off. He said the club is eyeing two defenders, four midfielders and a lethal forward from the transfer market.
