Kenya’s tormentors Mali jet in for second leg clash

West African side Mali have safely jetted into the country ahead of their second leg clash against Kenya’s Harambee Stars that is scheduled to take place on Sunday at Nyayo National Stadium.Same as Kenya, the Eagles touched down in Nairobi on Friday and are scheduled to have a feel of the Nyayo Stadium on Saturday at 4 PM ahead of the game.In the first leg, Mali humbled Kenya to a 5-0 defeat at the Stade Agadir in Morocco on Thursday night where a sublime Ibrahima Kone bagged his first international goals in style as he scored a hat trick in the thrashing to extend his side’s lead at the top of Group E.While Mali will be focused on picking up from where they left from after the first leg, under-fire head coach Engin Firat, who had the worst possible start to his reign at the national team, will be hoping for a change of fortunes to assuage the fuming fans who have already questioned his appointment and even called for his firing. We’re back home, safe and sound 🙏🙏Time to reflect on that performance and strategize for our return match on Sunday.Three more matches to give it our best shot 💪#Tunaweza pic.twitter.com/7lX1KBkDe6— Harambee Stars (@Harambee__Stars) October 8, 2021 Speaking after returning to prepare for the second leg, the former Moldovan tactician promised a better showing from Harambee Stars who he says are much better than their display in Morocco.“These boys are much better than what they displayed and that is what makes me angry and disappointed. In the second half, they showed that they were much better and I wondered why we did not start like that from the beginning. Against big teams like Mali who have players in midfield who are playing in top teams if you give them space, they will kill you. This is something we have to change and I am sure this match on Sunday will be much better,” the head coach said. The second leg takes place at 1600 EAT on Sunday.
