Kenya’s representative in the 2021/2022 CAF Champions League, Tusker FC, have been handed a massive boost in the injury front as four of their key players have been passed fully fit ahead of their crucial Saturday first leg clash against Egyptian champions Zamalek.Despite investing and signing heavily ahead of the new 2021/2022 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL), an injury strike ensured that head coach Robert Matano had nowhere to turn to with his squad well exposed in the team’s first fixture of the campaign. In that match, FKFPL defender of the year and team captain Eugene Asike, new striker Ibrahim Joshua and Charles Momanyi all missed out as the reigning champions ended up losing 1-0 against AFC Leopards in that opening clash.⚽️| The boys stepped up training today ahead of Saturday’s clash against Zamalek SC in the CAF Champions League.#KenyaMilele #Brewers4Life pic.twitter.com/3SwAhkEqi3— 🏆Tusker FC (@tusker_fc) October 12, 2021 However, after a nearly three-week international break and just days away from the second round preliminary fixture against Zamalek, Matano can breathe a little easier as all his squad members are fully fit and available for selection. In a friendly match played against non-contracted players on Wednesday morning, Matano deployed and showed the full strength of his squad as his side grabbed a 2-0 win with the returning Ibrahim extending his purple patch yet again as he scored one of the couple of goals with the other netted by youngster Stewart Omondi.Speaking after the match, Matano expressed his delight at the returning players and the options he has available to effect the game.“It is a big boost for us because in our first competitive match we played without an out and out striker, without midfielders and without any of our central defenders. For now, and heading into the weekend clash, we are fully complete and the unit is getting on with our eyes on the champions league clash,” the head coach told Mozzart Sport.📋 | ⚽️ Our Squad 🏹 to face the Kenyan Tusker team 🇰🇪 in the @CAF_Online Champions League🏆1st leg of the round of 32 🌍 #Zamalek #MostTitledIn20C | #CHAMP13NS pic.twitter.com/SGY0UpltzW— Zamalek SC English (@ZSCOfficial_EN) October 11, 2021 Right-back Daniel Sakari also played the full length of the friendly after suffering a little knock with the national team Harambee Stars.
