Simply put, Boyne Golf offers a staggering number of golf courses. Ten layouts welcome golfers to three resorts in Michigan: Boyne Highlands, Boyne Mountain and the Inn at Bay Harbor directly on the shoreline of Lake Michigan.
On a recent romp all around Michigan, I sampled four of the layouts at Boyne Highlands and Bay Harbor. The incredibly scenic Links and Quarry nines at Bay Harbor combine to earn the No. 8 spot in Michigan on Golfweek’s Best Courses You Can Play list for public-access layouts in the state. The inland and forested Arthur Hills course at Boyne Highlands comes in as No. 19 on that list. I also played the Donald Ross Memorial course and the Heather, the original of Boyne’s layouts. Check out photos below of all four tracks.
Boyne Highlands, which is also a ski resort, offers a lot more than golf. The Main Lodge at the resort suffered fire damage in 2016, but the English tudor-style hotel has reached the second stage of remodeling and guest rooms have been expanded and significantly upgraded. The lodge is an excellent jumping-off point for golfers playing its four full-size courses and the Cuff Links par-3 layout. Highlands is also just a half-hour drive from Bay Harbor, putting that course within easy reach.
Enjoy the photos of the four courses I played below.
