Nairobi City Stars defender Kevin ‘Chumsy’ Okumu has set ambitious targets for this campaign after an encouraging second half of the 2020/21 season. The right-back scored three goals in the second stanza of last season after he rejoined the team from Wazito FC on an initial loan deal that has since been made permanent. He also set up a couple of other goals.Three weeks ago he set up Timothy Noor’s goal in the 1-3 defeat to Sofapaka in Wundanyi in the opening match of the season. The marauding right-back now says he wants to surpass James Mazembe’s tally of 11 assists that the former Kariobangi Sharks man now with KCB registered last season, by setting up 15 goals. This season I want to register 15 assists, as a fullback one of my roles is to aid in attack by creating chances. I also want to score goals and a target of seven goals is an achievable one, “he stated. On the team’s target this campaign, Okumu says a top-five finish will be good enough. His team finished seventh last season although he also dreams of lifting the title with the Kawangware based club.” As a team, a top-five finish is good but we are in contention for the league title, it will be great to lift the league this season,” he added.
