Gor Mahia’s English head coach Mark Harrison has expressed his delight at the team’s adaptation to his new playing philosophy that he is trying to impose at the record Kenyan champions.Speaking during his unveiling back in August, the Englishman had outlined that his main priority will be focused on producing a type of football that will excite the loyal fan base of the club with the end product being a keen focus to extend onto the rich number of titles at the club.“I am after winning games and trophies but I want to do it in style. I want to play an entertaining brand. Hopefully, when supporters get back to the stadium we can excite them with the way we play. I am certainly not a long ball merchant by any means, that is not my game. I like my players to play with flair, to feel free and to go out there and express themselves. I do not want my team to play with any fear, just go out, enjoy and entertain,” he said in the interview back then.##NAJAVA_MECA_5898733##Ever since his arrival at the club, Gor have gradually transitioned into a tiki-taka playing side that is comfortable with possession at their feet and with no rush to force play with the ball, build up and patience their style of play whenever they take to the field. After showing glimpses of the new style in the new 2021/2022 Football Kenya Federation Premier League, that style of play came to the fore as the team successfully staged a comeback against Sudanese outfit Al-Ahly Merowe as they picked a crucial 1-3 away win in the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederations Cup first leg clash where the coach has seen some positive signs that promises a bright future.“It is not an easy style of play because the opposition want to press you and we need to play through it. We need to get over that worry and play without fear and I try to instill that in the players. I think they are trying to understand that they can go out there and try to express themselves without any fear and they are understanding the way it should be done. There must have been one point that we put in 20-25 passes in Egypt and the opposition could not get near the ball. They were just scintillating at times,” the head coach told Mozzart Sport. CAFCC: Elated Harrison keen to complete K’Ogalo progress in second legDespite gradually getting to terms with the Guardiola-esque type of football, the head coach reckons that it might still take a bit more time for the style to fully catch on in the team.“Yeah we are growing but it is a process and not an overnight thing. It is going to take them sort of half a season before they really grasp it but in the mean time we need to try and progress week to week and month to month,” the head coach affirmed.Having gotten the first leg advantage, Gor shift their focus to the league where they take on fierce rivals AFC Leopards in the Mashemeji Derby taking place on Wednesday at Kasarani Stadium.
