Since the resort opened nearly 20 years ago in Roscommon, Michigan, Forest Dunes has become a must-play in what might be considered a surprisingly strong golf state. The addition of The Loop reversible course in 2016 pushed the resort into even greater acclaim, and the new Bootlegger par-3 course provides one more option for golfers who can’t get enough.
Tom Doak’s The Loop, which plays as the Red in one direction on one day and as the Black in the opposite direction the next, ranks as the No. 3 public-access course in Michigan on Golfweek’s Best Courses You Can Play list. With incredibly firm, tight ground and playing conditions, the Loop is a great contrast to the original Forest Dunes layout by Tom Weiskopf, which ranks No. 4 in Michigan.
Enjoy the photos of both courses as well as the Bootlegger below.
