With the new National Super League season around the corner, Zoo FC head coach Herman Iswekha can afford a smile as his centre back Alex Onchwari is set to rejoin camp on Friday. The towering defender who was arguably one of their best players last season had been out of the club since their demotion to the second tier by FIFA for allegedly being involved in match manipulation.Onchwari was under the radar of several top flight clubs and at some point trained with Kariobangi Sharks for a couple of weeks but the deal didn’t materialize. The 2008 league champions Mathare United were also interested in Onchwari whose contract with the Kericho based side is set to expire in 2024.##NAJAVA_MECA_5027##After the deal collapsed, Onchwari revealed that he sought permission from Zoo bosses to return him in Narok to handle pressing personal matters that had impeded him from fully focusing on the preseason training sessions. “I will join the rest in training on Friday. I had been handling some personal matters back home in Narok for some weeks but I have found a solution and I am ready to give my best again for the time,” he disclosed.Having made up his mind over his future at the club, Onchwari vowed to inspire the club to regain its place amongst the big boys and restore their glory after doing down dishonorably.Happy Birthday Alex Onchwari #39….Enjoy this special day and many more achievements to come! Life in the second tier is always tough but we are lucky that we didn’t lose most of our players,” he added. ##EDITORS_CHOICE##
