Babu sets targets after terrific start

After netting his third goal in as many matches, Nairobi City Stars attacking midfielder Timothy Ouma believes that he has what it takes to hit double digits this season.Ouma commonly known as Babu netted the second goal as City Stars thumped Wazito 3-1 at Thika Stadium to inspire the club to their first-ever win over the Francis Kimanzi-coached club. The youngster has been riding on superb form this season scoring half of the club’s goals thus far in the campaign having kissed the back of the net in their opener against Sofapaka and the subsequent match against debutants Kenya Police.😁 Nothing to see here, just a couple of lions 🦁👋🏾 pic.twitter.com/QTFSLqPORl— Official Nairobi City Stars Fc (@NrbCityStars) October 21, 2021 Ouma revealed that coach Nicholas Muyoti who took over the reins before the season began replacing John Amboko who was relegated to the rank of an assistant, had sieved the best out of him.The 18-year is hoping to build on the solid start and net more than seven goals and register in excess of fifteen assists, numbers he feels are good enough to deliver titles for Simba wa Nairobi.”It is a dream start for me and the club. I had been working hard in training and the fruits are here for all to see. Coach Muyoti has given me the freedom to express myself on the pitch and thus the good return of goals. Last season I was nervous and new to the league but I have since adapted. Reaching double digits and winning titles is my ultimate goal,” he said shortly after the win over Wazito.Ouma who harbours a dream of playing in Europe in future also attributed his form to the advice from his brother and teammate Elvis Noor and the decision to settle at the club rather than looking for a shortcut to professional football. 78’| Goal @NrbCityStars Timothy Otieno taps in from Close range to extend City’s leadCity 2-0 Wazito#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/upHqkV0O4b— FKF Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) October 21, 2021 Ouma alongside the AFC Leopards duo of Marvin Nabwire and Jaffari Owiti came under sharp criticism early this year after deserting club duties in pursuit for professional football in Nigeria. “My brother has been encouraging me to keep on working hard and always encourages me on match days.I have also made a decision to focus on giving the best while in the City Stars shirt,” he added.
