Sofapaka president Elly Kalekwa has taken a swipe at his departing captain Lawrence Juma opining that he did not help the team much during his one-season stay at the club.Juma has confirmed that he is walking out of the cash-strapped club with a number of clubs within and outside the country interested in his services. Kalekwa has now confirmed that indeed the midfielder has exited the club adding that the club is bigger than one single individual.Update 2020/21 FKF PL Midfielder of the year Lawrence Juma has terminated his contract with Sofapaka FC and is free to move within the next 11 days. #footke#pltransfers pic.twitter.com/mMITx2w1ov— Footballers Of Our Time (@TransferMarktEA) October 18, 2021 “The team is bigger than anyone and we respect individual decisions, we don’t hold onto anybody, if someone chooses to leave then we have to grant them their wish,” Kalekwa told Citizen Digital.Kalekwa did not hesitate to throw a jab at the exciting player who was named the 2021 FKF Premier League midfielder of the year. He believes that Juma, who scored 16 goals for the team last season as they finished 12th did not benefit the team much. He added that he cannot be compared to the likes of club legend, John Baraza.“You know Juma is not that big, he has not helped us win anything or even finish the league in a better position, for instance, last season we finished in position 12, and he is not on the level of the likes of John Baraza who helped us lift the trophy, so we are still a stronger side without him,” he said.Kenya Police FC arresting every player 🎯Clifton Miheso ✅John Makwatta✅Musa Mohammed✅Duncan Otieno✅Lawrence Juma ⏳Harun Shakava⌛#FKFPLTransfers #WalkWithSagini pic.twitter.com/Lmvu5vOAzt— JASON SAGINI🇰🇪(The Sports Archbishop) (@Jason_Sagini) October 19, 2021 Juma’s departure is a massive blow to Sofapaka who currently have only 13 players on their roster.
