Kakamega Homeboyz dispatch Posta as Mathare continue their resurgence

Kakamega Homeboyz saw off 10-man Posta Rangers 2-0 to continue their 100% record for the season and ascend to the top of the log with nine points from 3 games courtesy of goals from Francis Omondi and David Odhiambo in either half. This was the third game that Homeboyz managed to win with clean goals, seeing Godfrey Oputi top the clean sheets chart and have a foot for the golden glove early.Posta came on to this game on the back of a 2-0 win away at Mbaraki but they could not manage to produce a similar or better result against Homeboyz at Bukhungu. Omondi opened the scoring with just 15 minutes played, heading home a Stephen Wakanya cross from a corner to give Homeboyz the early lead. Before then, Posta had chances to go in front through Eliud Lokuwam and Vincent Wasambo but they did not convert their chances.Posta kept orchestrating an attack after the other but Oputi was steady in goal and denied the attackers the chance to level the scores, protecting Homeboyz’s lead into the break.Full Time:Homeboyz 2-0 PostaOmondi F ’17Okoth D ’90 pic.twitter.com/cZdFqnRhco— Kakamega Homeboyz FC (@FcHomeboyz) October 24, 2021 On resumption, both Benard Mwalala and Stanley Okumbi made changes to their units with the scores looking overturnable for Posta as Homeboyz looked to seal it off.Brian Marita and Chris Onyango came off for Francis Nambute and Victor Ndinya for Posta as Mwalala brought in Michael Karamor for Stephen Opoku.Nambute got straight into the action, forcing Oputi to make a save just three minutes after coming on, and Posta knocked more. The substitute thought he had scored in the 74th minute from a header but he was ruled to have been offside and the goal struck off.Posta would be reduced to 10 men with two minutes left to play in regular time after Kennedy Odhiambo was sent off for an early shower for a second bookable offense.Homeboyz did not waste the chance presented to them as David Odhiambo doubled the lead just a minute after the numerical advantage for Homeboyz to see off the game and lock all points.Kakamega Homeboyz Starting XI: Geoffrey Oputi (GK), Collins Odhiambo, Eric Ambunya, Brain Eshihanda, George Odiwuor (C), Francis Omondi, Moses Mudavadi, Stephen Wakanya, Yema Mwana, Stephen Opoku, David OdhiamboSubs: Elix Otieno, Thomas Wainaina, Michael Karamor, Stephen Etyang, Ali Bhai, Estone Esiye, Potipher OdhiamboPosta Rangers Starting XI: Kevin Opiyo (GK), Sammy Imbuye, Michael Apudo, Kennedy Odhiambo, David Ochieng, Victor Majid, Vincent Wasambo, Eliud Lokuwam, Chrispinus Onyango, Caleb Olilo, Brian MaritaSubs: Jairus Adira, Sammy Meja, Dinken Mwema, Benard Ondiek, Joshua Nyatini, Josephat Lopaga, Victor Ndinya, Timothy Otieno, Francis NambuteNzoia Sugar 1-2 Mathare United In Sudi, Mathare United won their second match in row, piling more misery on Nzoia Sugar who are yet to win a game in the current campaign.Fresh from beating Sofapaka in midweek, Mathare United struck first in the 22nd minute courtesy of Martin Nderitu who was opening his account for the Slum Boys but Hassan Beja leveled the scores in the 45th minute to head into the break tied.John Mwangi scored the winner for Mathare on 78 minutes to ensure they return to Nairobi with the maximum points.
