Lease of life for Sofapaka as new signings are cleared to play

Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side Sofapaka appear to have taken a corner when it comes to their off field struggles. This is after the team was allowed to field their new signings for the first time when they hosted KCB at Thika Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Since the start of the 2021/2022 campaign, Batoto ba Mungu have been unable to field their new faces as the club was serving a transfer ban imposed on them due to the arrears owed to their former employees.🚨TRANSFER UPDATE🗞️We are glad to announce that we have signed Hansel Ochieng from AFC Leopards. ✍️Ochieng has penned a two-year deal with the club.🤝 Welcome back home Hansel @betikaKe @OyandoRonny #BatotoBaMungu pic.twitter.com/5K3kCeUK8w— Sofapaka FC (@FC_Sofapaka) September 17, 2021 In the first three games, due to the inability to have their new acquisitions, the team used to have only a maximum of two to three players on the substitutes bench including the goalkeeper. However, that shortage appears to be over and done with now as the team unleashed their signings against KCB in matchday four of the FKFPL. Wilberforce Lugogo who joined from Bandari, Hansel Ochieng and Said Tsuma from AFC Leopards, midfielder Dan Guya and former Wazito goalkeeper Fredrick Odgiambo all made it t the matchday squad as the team had nine players to turn to on the bench.“Team News! Finally our new signings cleared. Wilberforce Lugogo makes his debut for us, Joe Waithera and Alex Imbusia leads our attack. Hansel Ochieng, Said Tsuma, Dan Guya all make the bench,” the club posted on its social media platforms.Match Update| 22’🔃 Substitution🔛 Hansel Ochieng’↩️ Kelvin Otieno🔵 Sofapaka 0 – 0 KCB 🟢#SofapakaVsKCB#FKFPL pic.twitter.com/Cw6PNRKbcY— FKF Premier League (@Officialfkfpl) October 24, 2021 Despite being able to field their new signings, the Ken Odhiambo coached side were condemned to consecutive defeats as the Bankers won the game 1-2 courtesy of goals from their own new signings in Robinson Kamura and James Mazembe. Stephen Okola managed to pull one back late on but it proved too little too late for them. News of the players being able to be fielded will however come as a shot in the arm for the team that find themselves in eleventh currently. KCB bag first win over rejuvenated Sofapaka
