Alexa Pano tied for 10th at Stage II of LPGA Q-School but will not advance.
After her petition to attend Q-Series was denied, Pano competed in both Stage I and Stage II to try to secure Symetra Tour status. When asked about her plans for 2022, the 17-year-old said she plans to remain amateur for now. The minimum age requirement for the LPGA is 18; it’s 17 for the Symetra Tour.
“I think right now my game plan is still amateur,” said Pano, who closed with a 67 to finish at 9 under for the tournament.
“Obviously I wanted to get some Symetra status from this week and get to experience that, but right now I’m still taking it day by day and figuring out.”
She’ll next compete in the AJGA Rolex Tournament of Champions over Thanksgiving.
Amateur Xiaowen Yin of China, 16, finished second to France’s Pauline Roussin-Bouchard but will also not advance due to her age. Yin, currently the seventh-ranked amateur in the world, has twice won this year on the China LPGA and hasn’t finished outside the top 10 in a ranked event since 2019. She has won eight times in the past two years.
Yin shot 72-69-66-67 to finish at 14 under for the tournament.
