National Super League side Mombasa Elite have completed the acquisition of former St. Peters Mumias High School wing back Humphrey Obino on a two-year long contract ahead of the start of the competition. Elite who were formerly known as Modern Coast Rangers won the signature of the promising rookie after impressing in the trials held at Camp Toyoyo grounds. Obino who can de deployed as a winger had unsuccessfully tried his luck with former Football Kenya Federation Cup winners Kariobangi Sharks but didn’t give up as he opted to register with Elite. The Kericho born player revealed that he had tried with the Muhamed Mchulla coached costal club for a period of three weeks and elected to return home after failing to make the cut. Mchulla makes Modern Coast Rangers return three weeks after leavingObino who sat for his KCSE exams in March had his dream of playing in the two top competitions in the country come to pass after Elite bosses reached out to him later and offered him a contract. “I have signed a two-year contract with Elite and already looking forward to the new season. I had trained with them at Camp Toyoyo sometimes back but did not immediately join them. I had also attended trials at Sharks but did not succeed. After some time, I got a call from Elite who offered me a good deal, “said the youngster. Having already settled at the Coast, the 17-year old who considers budding AFC Leopards full back Lewis Bandi as his role model believes that a season in the second tier is enough for him to market himself to the world.” I am hoping that I will have a good season with Elite and will attain my goals. Ultimately, I want to play in the top tier before heading abroad,” he added.
