Ulinzi Stars forward Hillary Simiyu is over the moon after opening his goals account for the Soldiers in their 2-0 win over AFC Leopards at Thika Stadium on Friday.Simiyu was involved in both of the goals, scoring the second in the second half and setting up Brian Birgen for the first towards the end of the first half.this was his first start of the season since making the switch from Nzoia and the forward could not hide his joy after getting his first for his new club.”I feel so good and I thank God for bringing me this far. I have been pushing myself in training. I have not had the chance before but that was my game to open my goals account and I did it. I am extremely happy and in high morale, and I believe that I will hit the targets that I had set. Scoring in my first start gives me the motivation to do better in this league,” Simiyu said. The 25-year old is targeting at least 20 goals for Ulinzi, a target that he feels is very realistic after netting 9 goals for Nzoia Sugar while making appearances only in the second half of the season after joining from Bungoma Superstars alongside Kevin Wafula. To achieve that, he is determined to continue working hard and is hoping and praying for a season free from injury so as to be available for selection as much as possible.”I joined Nzoia in the midseason and I had nine goals. Now that I kicked off the season with Ulinzi I am targetting to hit with 20 and above goals. I have already opened my account and I hope and pray that I have an injury-free season so that I achieve my target,” he added.Simiyu is also full of gratitude to his teammates as well as the technical bench for pushing him in training and helping him gel with the team well in such a short time.”We have been training well with my fellow players and the coaches have been pushing me as well and that has helped me settle well in the club, and for that, I am thankful to every one of them. Now that I feel I have settled, I will do my best.” he finished. The striker debuted for the Soldiers in the opening day win over his former side Nzoia Sugar, coming on in the 62 minutes for Mark Bikokwa but sat out of the next two games.
