The Foxes gunned down in their own lair – Arteta tightens things up

A ghoulish Halloween weekend opener for Leicester City at their King Power Stadium. The Foxes welcomed Arsenal and did not have a pleasant afternoon. Aaron Ramsdale proved he is a gem between the posts. Final score 0-2 in East Midlands.Mikel Arteta oversaw his team’s ninth game in a row without defeat in all competitions – a massive improvement from the beginning of the season. With that, Arsenal prevented Leicester from recording their third Premier League win in a row.Arsenal needed less than 20 minutes to reach a two-goal advantage. In the 5th minute already, Gabriel headed the ball beautifully after a corner kick. The hosts could not find their rhythm, numerous inaccurate passes, turnovers, late tackles. And Arsenal completely made use of the situation. Emile Smith Rowe doubled Arsenal’s lead in the 18th minute, leaving Brendan Rogers baffled.Smith Rowe scored his fourth goal of the season in all competitions, all of which have come in his last seven appearances. It is the same number as he managed in 33 games last season.Leicester were centimeters away from cutting the guests’ lead in half by the end of the first period but Ramsdale did not allow it. In the 43rd minute, James Maddison sent a dangerous free kick and the ball went to the top right corner of the goal. Ramsdale was alert and pulled off an amazing save to deflect the ball onto the post. Jonny Evans tried sending the rebound to the net but Ramsdale reacted again and redirected the ball onto the right post of his goal.Second half started with a totally different Leicester. The Foxes were dominant and eager to score ASAP. In the 55th minute Luke Thomas came close scoring after picking up a pass from Youri Tielemans, but his shot from inside the box flashed just wide of the right post.Ramsdale impressed everyone again minutes after. Ademola Lookman had a great chance inside the goal box, shot to the right side of the goal, but the 23-year-old goalkeeper pulled off an exquisite save to deny the attempt.Three minutes later, Harvey Barnes ran with the ball towards the keeper and pulled the trigger from close range, but Ramsdale anticipated his intention and made another amazing save to stop the shot.Arsenal slowly gathered themselves and calmed things down. Few chances on both sides were not enough for the scoreboard to change.Incredibly important three points for the Gunners who, at least for a few hours see themselves fifth in the table. Leicester are disappointed with a number ten next to their names.PREMIER LEAGUE – Round 10SaturdayLeicester – Arsenal 0-2 (0-2)/Gabriel 5, Smith Rowe 18/17.00: (8.50) Newcastle (4.50) Chelsea (1.45)17.00: (2.75) Burnley (3.05) Brentford (2.95)17.00: (1.33) Liverpool (5.90) Brighton (9.50)17.00: (1.18) Man.City (8.00) Crystal Palace (19.0)17.00: (3.30) Watford (3.35) Southampton (2.35)19.30: (2.85) Tottenham (3.40) Man.Utd.
