Goals from Shami Kibwana and Deogratius Ojok helped Tusker FC beat Wazito FC 2-0 to register their first win of the season in an FKF Premier League match played on Saturday afternoon at the Ruaraka Grounds.Both teams were yet to register a league win this season and were both keen on bagging maximum points in the game.Both teams made changes from the team that started in their last assignments. Tusker made the most (6) with Kevin Monyi, Eugene Asike, Hillary Wandera, Stewart Omondi, Rodgers Ouma and John Njuguna making way for Christopher Oruchum, Jimmy Mbugua, Daniel Sakari, Teddy Osok, Shami Mwinyi, and Boniface Muchiri. For Wazito Erickson Mulu, Levis Adet and Dennis Sikhayi came on for Rooney Onyango, Levin Odhiambo and Eli Asieche. The changes the Brewers made seemed to work for them in the early stages of the game as they pinned Wazito to their own half in the opening exchanges. Wazito keeper Zamu Adisa pulled two huge saves to deny Christopher Oruchum and Shami Mwinyi inside the first 15 minutes. Wazito’s first real opportunity came in the 24th minute through a set piece. Cliff Nyakeya delivered from the left but Levis Adet’s header went over the bar. Wazito skipper Johnstone Omurwa pulled a superb block to deny Muchiri who was through on goal.Tusker’s persistence yielded a goal in the 39th minute. A quick exchange of passes involving Jackson Macharia, Clyde Senaji set up Mwinyi whose thunderbolt hit the top left roof. Eric Gichimu, Eli Asieche, and Rooney Onyango were introduced for Erickson Mulu, Dennis Sikhayi and James Kinyanjui while Vincent Oburu came on for Amos Asembeka ten minutes later. After the changes Wazito showed more urgency going forward as they went all out in search of a leveler. They had a good chance in 66th minute when Gichimu put Nyakeya through on goal, Brian Bwire on Tusker goal stood tall to deny Nyakeya.Wazito continued to push for a goal with Oburu, Gichimu and Eli Asieche all coming close. The visitors took full control of the game in the closing stages, and forced Tusker to defend deeply.Against the run of play, Tusker sealed the win through substitute Deogratius Ojok who bagged a scorcher.Coach Robert Matano was impressed with the team’s show.”I am impressed.
