Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Bernard Mwalala is a relieved man after his strikers opened their account last weekend against Vihiga Bullets.Prior to the game against Bullets at Bukhungu, Homeboyz’s goals had come from midfield and defence with their two strikers, Yema Mwana and Micharl Karamor both firing blanks. They however joined the party against their local rivals, scoring the goals in the 3-2 triumph.Heading into the game, Mwalala said he had worked closely with the pair and had demanded that one or both of them find the back of the net against the Evans Mafuta coached side and to his delight, all the three goals came from the duo. Mwana struck twice before Karamor came off the bench to score the winning goal four minutes from time. “As a coach, it is always satisfying when the hard work that you and the players put in training pays off. Before the Bullets game, I worked with my two strikers, Mike and Yema and I was categorical that one or both of them had to get at least a goal against Bullets and luckily both of them were on the score-sheet and when your strikers are scoring it is a good thing and I hope that they continue to find the back of the net in the coming games,” the former Kenyan international told Mozzart Sport.Seconds before kick-off. The team had not conceded a goal this season before letting two against Bullets and Mwalala says that has to be fixed.“We let in two goals, I found them to be easy goals largely due to laxity and we will have to go back to the drawing board and fix our backline before the match against Bandari. We have to do better defensively in that game.” He added.The two teams will face off on Sunday at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.
