The dilemma called Paul Pogba. The French international is (again) making headlines and it’s almost always the same thing – contract renewal. Pogba’s contract is expiring in June 2020 and if an extension is not agreed, he will leave the Red Devils on a free transfer for the second time. And considering what happened last time, and the fact that his agent is Mino Raiola, everybody assumes that the Frenchman has rejected all proposals and will leave the club. And that seemed to have annoyed the player and his entourage, so they decided to reveal their side of the story – he approached the club himself in 2019 and expressed a wish to renew, only to be rejected. The former Juventus star, however, chose to ignore the rival interest and made signing a new deal at Old Trafford a priority. The club, however, decided against offering him a new deal, instead opting to trigger a 12-month option on his existing contract in 2020.Considering his recent form, and especially his displays in the France team, it is obvious that Pogba is nowhere near his best form. Manchester journalists have tried to solve the puzzle of his excellent displays in France, but average ones in United, and they are yet to find a proper answer. One of the reasons is certainly the supporting cast. Somebody there that he totally respects, he needs experienced people behind him. How old he? 28? He’s a really experienced player. But he’s one of them that will get to 35 and be exactly the same. He’ll still be doing the stupid stuff where he’s stud rolling the ball, holding people off, showing how strong and skilful he is. You think of the Juventus team he played in, where he was brilliant and was why we signed him. The experience around him – Pirlo, Chiellini, Bonucci, Buffon, an aggressive manager. Pogba has been in and out of Manchester squad recently, and it’s obvious that for some reason, his form has been in decline since Ronaldo arrived at the club. Unless we see some big changes until Christmas, it seems that the Frenchman will indeed leave Old Trafford again. But this time, nobody will be sad: not the player, not the club, not the fans.
