Aussems decries poor Wundanyi Stadium

AFC Leopards tactician Patrick Aussems tore into the state of Wundanyi Stadium and the preparedness in their match against Sofapaka FC on Sunday in which Leopards lost a fourth consecutive match.Reports from Wundanyi indicated that kickoff was delayed for close to an hour with Aussems noting they had to wait for 30 minutes after Sofapaka who were the hosts availed an ambulance that didn’t meet the set standards, forcing the center referee to delay until they provided a well equipped one.Aussems said that apart from the ill-equipped ambulance that has been provided at first, the security of the venue was also in question.UPDATE A slight delay here at Wundanyi Grounds The ambulance provided by the hosts not well equipped The teams are waiting for another well equipped facility #OursForever pic.twitter.com/nahNQDlzqc— AFC Leopards (@AFCLeopards) November 7, 2021 The former Simba SC coach also revealed that Ingwe had the chance to refuse to play and walk home with the three points and two goals from a walkover but they opted to wait an extra 30 minutes for things to be set in order.”Nothing was ready, the ambulance was not ready. We were fair because we would have left without any problem and it would have been a 2-0 for us but we waited for 30 minutes but I don’t understand that we have good pitches in Nairobi but we have to come and play in a stadium where you don’t have enough security and an ambulance,” Aussems said. The Belgian again came to the defense of his players despite the loss, noting that they settled in the game well after a bad start and even played better at the point where they conceded, and were the better team in the second half.Marvin Omondi Nabwire is the new AFC Leopards captain. He will be assisted by Peter Thiong’o— Meshack Kisenge (@kisengemeshack1) November 7, 2021 He has however called on the youthful players to learn quickly so as to avoid some individual mistakes that come with inexperience.”We did not play well in the first 25 minutes. We conceded a goal in a moment where we were better because in the last 15 minutes of the first half we played better because we changed the organization. Unfortunately, we conceded because of an individual mistake but such things happen. I have some young players who have to learn about that. The second half was 100% for us, we had opportunities but we were not able to score,” he added. This is the first time that AFC Leopards are going for a four-match losing streak since 2019 where they lost in consecutive matches against Zoo, Bandari, Dandora Love, Gor Mahia, Ulinzi Stars, and Mathare United.
