The most successful club in the history of Ligue 1, Saint-Etienne (yes, St. Etienne and not PSG) is going through it’s darkest times. The 10 time French champion (PSG has 9 titles) is currently near the bottom of Ligue 1 with only one win and 9 points, one more than last placed Metz and three less than Brest, who is the first club above relegation zone. The club is currently in the process of sale, but even that is proving to be a very difficult task. Unlike other big clubs like Bordeaux, who was sold last season, St. Etienne are not only unable to find a proper buyer, but are forced to sue potential candidates. Give this man a Puskas award! African gem nails a 60-yard-long screamerThe club announced today that they are suing Cambodian prince Norodom Ravichak after uncovering a “fake” bank document in a takeover bid. Lawyers for the relegation-threatened club said a 13 billion Ksh bank guarantee in Ravichak’s dossier was fake. Saint Etienne’s shareholders have been seeking a new owner since April and the law firm overseeing proceedings asked interested parties to submit tenders with a deadline of Monday.”The shareholders of ASSE have started a process of sale since last April, entrusted to the firm KPMG which invited the candidates for the takeover of the club to transmit their best offer this Monday, November 8. This process has brought to light the lack of credibility of certain candidates. This is the case of Norodom Ravichak and his counsel Mr. Carlos Bejarano who provided a financial guarantee document of 100 million euros from a major international bank, which turns out to be a fake. The shareholders therefore questioned their lawyers on the legal and judicial consequences resulting from the production of these false documents with a view to being authorized to participate in the transfer process. In view of their conclusions, it was resolved to lodge a complaint with the public prosecutor of Paris for acts of forgery, use of forgery and attempted fraud” said the statement.
