The wealthiest club has decided: Eddie Howe is the new Newcastle manager

Paulo Fonseca, Unai Emery Joackim Loew, Erik Ten Hag, Steven Gerrard, Antonio Conte, Xavi and Luicen Favre were all in the mix for the vacant Newcastle United managerial post. Some of those names were only mentioned, some were asked but refused (Emery, Loew, ten Hag, Conte, Xavi) and officially only Fonseca had an interview and said yes. Still, new owners decided that Eddie Howe should lead the wealthiest club in the world and today, he signed an official three year contract to become a new head coach of Newcastle United.🤝 𝗛𝗢𝗪𝗘-𝗔𝗬 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗟𝗔𝗗𝗦 🤝We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Eddie Howe as the club’s new head coach.Welcome to Newcastle United, Eddie! ⚫️⚪️— Newcastle United FC (@NUFC) November 8, 2021 The 43 year-old spent the majority of his playing career in defense for Bournemouth before retiring in 2007 – taking charge of the Cherries first team in early 2009. He then managed Burnley for two years before his mother died, which resulted in his wish to go back to the south of England. He was reappointed at Bournemouth in October 2012 and remained in post until August 2020. Having prevented the club from dropping out of the Football League in his first season, Eddie subsequently led them to promotions from League One and then the Championship – reaching the Premier League for the first time in 2015. Five seasons of top-flight football followed, achieving finishes of 16th, 9th, 12th, 14th and 18th – the last of which saw them relegated in 2020.Brighton and Newcastle have forgotten what it’s like to win a football match! It finishes 1-1 on the south coastThe biggest concern for some fans has been the fact that he was eventually relegated with Bournemouth, but others say that the fact that he managed to stay with Bournemouth in the Premier League for five years with limited budgets is in fact his greatest achievement. Relieved of his position in August 2020, he’s been out of the game since then, but involved in negotiations for the job at Celtic (eventually turned it down), and at Everton, before Rafa Benitez showed interest and won the job.He will take over Newcastle United, who are wealthiest in the world, but have the worst start in the Premier League so far, and are without a win. A desperate relegation battle will be his only goal until May, and he will have around 7.5 billion Ksh to buy players in January transfer window.
