Ramos and Wijnaldum are the biggest flops in Ligue 1

World Cup qualifying period is also a time for reflection and analysis. During the time when national selections are playing to secure the World Cup trip to Qatar, there is no club football, so a number of articles containing analysis or statistic are appearing more and more, and RMC Sport decided to analyze the effect of the transfer window after 13 games. According to their data, two PSG players are so far the biggest flops, while two Arsenal players are among the best acquisitions during the last transfer window.International break will be interesting behind the curtains of Parc de PrincesBEST SIGNINGS:Gaetan Laborde (Rennes)What can you say for a signing which is currently the top scorer in Ligue 1? Laborte came from Montpellier for 2 billion Ksh and blended in immediately. 8 goals in 8 appearances in the French league is enough for a joint first place, along with Jonathan David and for this list too.Kamaldeen Sulemana (Rennes)Rennes spent the most money in last transfer window – 10 billion. And they did so wisely. After Laborte, they reached out to Nordsjaelland in Denmark and payed around 2 billion for a 19 year old kid from Ghana. The result? 13 appearances, 4 goals, and 2 assists for the left winger. Quite good.William Saliba and Matteo Guendouzi (©AFP)Matteo Guendouzi (OM)Guendouzi is on his way out of Arsenal since Arteta became the manager, but the young midfielder doesn’t seems to care. After a loan episode in Hertha Berlin, the Frenchman is on his second loan from the Gunners, but so far, he has been great for Marseille. The reports about his bad temper are still out there, but still, he has been good enough to receive a call from Didier Deschamps. Nothing more to say.William Saliba (OM)Another Arsenal loanee on his second spell away from North London, and another one to end up in Marseille. Former Saint-Etienne and Nice player quickly established himself as an essential element in the Marseille back four, and played in 12 out of 13 games in Ligue 1, without being subbed.Andy Delort (Nice)Montpellier’s other lethal striker (and captain) also left this season, but unlike his former teammate Laborte, Andy Delort went to Nice. The 30 year old Algeria international was bought for 1.3 billion and has scored 5 goals and one 1 assist in 9 appearances so far.Przemyslaw Frankowski (Lens)The 26 year old Polish international (don’t spell out his name) came from Major League Soccer (Chicago Fire) and blended in perfectly in Lans, who are one of the biggest surprises in Ligue 1 so far. So if Fankowski, who started every match and contributed with 4 goals and 3 assists.WORST SIGNINGS:Sergio Ramos (PSG)After playing 0 minutes since joining PSG as a free agent, but collecting 4.2 million Ksh a day (3000 per minute) it’s safe to say that Sergio Ramos has a long way to go to get out of this list. The still injured Spanish international is finally on course to feature in the PSG team, and reports from Paris are even suggesting that the Parisians are contemplating contract termination if the former Real players continues to struggle. Ouch.French media claim PSG could terminate Sergio Ramos’ contractGeorginio Wijnaldum (PSG)The second of the four free agent signings for the Parisians (along with Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, and Gianluigi Donnarumma) is the Dutch international, who switched from Liverpool to PSG in June, but so far failed to made an impact. In fact, he openly admitted not being happy as he collected only 17 appearances in all competitions so far.Why did you sign him?! Lyon paid over $10 million to Liverpool for the Swiss only to play him out of positionXherdan Shaqiri (Lyon)Another player from Liverpool who looked for his happiness elsewhere and didn’t find it so far. Swiss midfielder arrived in Lyon to the delight of coach Bosh and the fans, but so far nobody is happy: Shaquiri, fans or Bosh, who is, by the way, on the verge of sack. Faced with poor performances (1 goal, 1 assist), the midfielder has yet to play a whole match for Lyon.Justin Kluivert (Nice)A big part of the title winning Lille last season, Kluivert went to Nice as a personal wish of his former coach Christoph Galtier, but so far hasn’t had much impact. The son of famous Patrick is on loan from Roma but has been injured a couple of times so far and registered one goal, with an assist in four games he featured. Not good enough. Justin Kluivert (©AFP)Gerson (OM)Gerson is actually not that bad, but when somebody pays 3.2 billion for a player, as Olympic did to Flamengo, they expect a ‘wow factor’, and so far, the Brazilian has been just OK. Gerson played in almost every game so far, but still managed only 1 goal and 2 assists.Amine Harit (OM)Upon arriving from Schalke 04 on loan, the Moroccan had a dream start with a goal and assist. But, he ended there and then. He didn’t manage to secure Sampaoli’s trust and has not played in Ligue 1 since the end of September.Myron Boadu (Monaco)Monaco have the money, but still, a 2.2 billion Ksh is quite a sum, so a player worth that much has to be good. Myron Boadu came from AZ Alkmaar, but couldn’t take Volland and Ben Yedder off the throne and started only three games in League 1, while his only goal came in the Europa League against PSV Eindhoven.
