Vihiga’s royalty triumph over AS FAR Club to reignite CAF Women’s Champions League quest

Kenya’s Vihiga Queens had a perfect bounce, finishing off a herculean task against Morocco’s AS FAR Club, beating them 2-0 to record their first win at the ongoing CAF Women Champions League in Cairo, Egypt.Violet Wanyonyi and Jentrix Shikangwa were on target for the Queens, with custodian Lillian Anyango producing yet another satisfying performance in between the sticks to keep a clean sheet.Vihiga Queens opened the scoring just seven minutes in the game to give Queens an early lead after pouncing on a punch by AS FAR Club’s custodian Khadija Er-ermichi and slotting it into the back of the net, opening Vihiga’s goals account in the competition.Jentrix Shikangwa had the initial shot at goal, being on the end of a beautiful interplay from Mercelyne Anyango and Tereza Engesha to produce a lethal shot with his strong foot to see the goalkeeper spill it just inside the six-area for the larking Wanyonyi.Half timeVihiga Queens 1-0 FAR Rabat (Violet Wanyonyi.
