Cranes midfielder wary of Harambee Stars threat

Uganda Cranes midfielder Moses Waiswa says he anticipates a tough challenge from Kenya when the two teams face off in Uganda in a World Cup qualification match on Thursday afternoon. The Cranes will entertain Kenya in the return leg of the qualification matches at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende. Kenya are already out of qualification after back to back defeats to Mali in October. Uganda, with seven points to their name, have a chance of making it to the final qualification round as they currently sit second in the group with seven points, three behind leaders Mali.“We still have a lot to fight for, we push till the end as we build for the future. It’s an East African Derby and so we have to fight for our pride and ensure that we come back home with a positive result,” Michael Olunga speaking ahead of the Uganda Cranes match #RadullLive pic.twitter.com/khZUgOwOWq— @RadullLive (@radulllive) November 10, 2021 Ahead of the Thursday clash, Waiswa lauded Kenya saying that they have many professional players and that he anticipates a tough match when his side comes against Harambee Stars.“Kenya is a strong team that has always given us challenges. They have very many professional players but I think everyone that has been selected on our side is ready to face them and all we want is to win against our neighbours,” the midfielder is quoted by football256.The match between the two teams is dubbed a derby and for Waiswa, matches against Stars are always difficult, he warned against Uganda labelling themselves as favourites.⁦⁦⁦@MotherwellFC⁩ player Bevis Mugabi shares notes with coach Micho during Uganda Cranes’ training session at Mary’s on Tuesday ahead of Thursday’s 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Kenya.⁦@B_M321⁩ ⁦@OfficialFUFA⁩ ⁦@FIFAcom⁩ ⁦@CAF_Online⁩ pic.twitter.com/Th0tnmBQmB— Eddie Chicco (@Kujooga) November 10, 2021 “I would say derbies are not about who is strong and who is weak or who needs the game more, they are always difficult games no matter the situation. They are always full of energy and hungry and therefore what we are headed for is not an easy game but we are ready and motivated,” the Supersport United midfielder asserted. The match will kick-off at 4 PM.Uganda Cranes squadGoalkeepers: Charles Lukwago (St George, Ethiopia), Mathias Kigonya (Azam, Tanzania), Isma Watenga (Chippa United, South Africa), Joel Mutakubwa (Express, Uganda)Defenders: Isaac Muleme (Viktoria Žižkov, Czech Republic), Abdul-Aziizi Kayondo (Vipers, Uganda), Timothy Denis Awany (FC Ashdod, Israel), Bevis Kristofer Kizito Mugabi (Motherwell, Scotland), Denis Iguma (KCCA, Uganda), Gavin Kizito Mugweri (SC Villa, Uganda), Livingstone Mulondo (Vipers, Uganda), Halid Lwaliwa (Vipers, Uganda), Kenneth Semakula (SC Villa, Uganda), Geoffrey Waswa (KCCA, Uganda)Midfielders: Khalid Aucho (Young Africans, Tanzania), Allan Okello (AC Paradou, Algeria), Moses Waiswa (SuperSport United, South Africa), Shafik Kuchi Kagimu (URA, Uganda), Julius Poloto (KCCA, Uganda), John Revita (KCCA, Uganda), Bobosi Byaruhanga (Vipers, Uganda), Mahad Kakooza (Express, Uganda)Forwards: Fahad Bayo (FC Ashdod, Israel), Yunus Junior Sentamu (Vipers, Uganda), Steven Desse Mukwala (URA, Uganda), Milton Karisa (Vipers, Uganda), Ibrahim Orit (Vipers, Uganda), Martin Kizza (Express, Uganda)
