The Football Kenya Federation Caretaker Committee led by retired judge Aaron Ringera has on Friday 12 November suspended all major leagues in the country for a period of two weeks after taking over the governance of football in the country from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).In a press statement, the committee announces the suspension of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL), National Super League (NSL), Divison One, Women’s Premier League and the Women’s Division One.Confirmation of the suspension of all Kenyan football leagues.#KEFootball pic.twitter.com/AHp2Q0lTfO— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) November 12, 2021 “Following a meeting of the Football Kenya Federation Caretaker Committee this (Friday) morning, it has been unanimously decided to suspend the leagues for a period of two weeks starting today the 12th of November 2021,”“This decision has been reached to ensure regularisation of the league activities across the country. The committee will be engaging with clubs and other football stakeholders in due course,” read part of the statement from the committee. There was a reprieve for leagues running under the branches and sub-branches as the committee gave the green light for them to continue as normal.Aaron Ringera who is the chairperson of the committee shared a message to all local football fans that the operations of soccer activities in the country.“We wish to reassure all lovers of Kenyan football that the committee will ensure smooth operations of all football activities across the country and beyond,” said Ringera. Despite the leagues being banned for two weeks, fans will just miss one week of football action with a number of days of the following week being part of the current international break. This will however be a big blow for the Women Premier League that was scheduled to kick-off on Saturday 13th November.
