Confusion galore as four NSL fixtures are staged

The quagmire that has been surrounding Kenyan football continued on Saturday with some National Super League (NSL) matches being played despite an earlier communication by the FKF Caretaker Committee, through the Chairman retired judge Aaron Ringera, suspended matches in top leagues in the country.In a press statement on Friday, the committee announced the suspension of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL), National Super League (NSL), Divison One, Women’s Premier League, and the Women’s Division One.Nevertheless, the communication came at a time when some teams had traveled for their away matches that were set to take place on Saturday as per communication from FKF relayed earlier.Ringera suspends football leagues as FKF Caretaker Committee settles for workVihiga United had traveled to honor their match against Coastal Heroes while Kibera Black Stars were out to face off with Gusii United and the matches went on as planned, with two other matches pitting Silibwet versus Naivas and Kisumu All Stars versus Mombasa Elite being played.Vihiga United fell to Coastal Heroes by a solitary goal courtesy of Mohammed Abeid in the first half, with Kibera Black Stars beating hosts Gusii FC 2-0 with all the goals coming in the first half.Silibwet and Naivas played to a barren draw as Mombasa Elite beat kisumu All stars 2-0 in their own turf.However, the validity of those matches and points remains uncertain, with the FKF Caretaker Committee Secretariat, through the head Linda Oguttu, releasing a statement addressed to all clubs in the affected leagues on Saturday.Confirmation of the suspension of all Kenyan football leagues.#KEFootball pic.twitter.com/AHp2Q0lTfO— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) November 12, 2021 The letter stated that matches played contrary to the communication passed across by the Committee would not be validated by the committee, and the teams that picked points from the matches might have been doing ‘the lord’s work’.”Refer to the above matter and the communication by the caretaker committee chairman issued on 12th November 2021 regarding the suspension of all football matches.This is to further inform you that the caretaker committee will further arrange a meeting soon. In the meantime, we wish to notify you that any matches that may be played contrary to our communication will not be recognized and/or validated by the caretaker committee,” the statement read.Some of the other teams had also traveled for the matches on tomorrow and all eyes are on whether they will play their league matches or not.
