Fans barred from attending Harambee Stars clash against Rwanda

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) caretaker committee has surprisingly announced that no fans will be allowed into the Nyayo National Stadium on Monday, 15 November 2021 to watch on the game as the men’s national football team Harambee Stars takes on Rwanda in their final FIFA 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifier match.Despite the government, through the Ministry of Sport, Culture and Heritage, earlier lifting the coronavirus forced ban of fans not being allowed to access stadium, it came as quite of a surprise when the caretaker committee, through a press statement signed by Head of Secretariat Lindah Oguttu, made it public that the game will be played behind closed doors.Final session ✅✅Full focus on Rwanda tomorrow.#Tunaweza pic.twitter.com/hmFeEfwYHL— Harambee Stars (@Harambee__Stars) November 14, 2021 Additionally, African football governing body, CAF, had earlier also allowed for fans to be allowed access to the grounds on condition that they were given the clearance from the host’s country Ministry of Health. Despite fans already being allowed into various stadia across the country, that will certainly not be the case for the dead rubber clash.“The scheduled FIFA World Cup qualifier match between Kenya and Rwanda is set to take place as scheduled tomorrow 15th November 2021. Match day arrangements have been put in place to ensure this game is a success. The match will kick off at 4pm at the Nyayo National Stadium,”“In this regard therefore, kindly observe that no fans shall be allowed into the Nyayo National Stadium. Only invited guests, officials and members of the media shall be allowed in subject to accreditation procedures set up by the committee,” the statement read.
