Kisumu All-Stars head coach Salim Babu says the two-week league break that was announced by the FKF caretaker committee will be beneficial to his team on the injury front.The committee, that was named to run football activities in the country for the next six months by CS Amina Mohammed on Friday announced that suspension of all leagues across the country for the next two weeks to pave way for the establishment of their structures. Some NSL teams honored their weekend matches while some failed.All-Stars are among the teams that did not play over the weekend, they were scheduled to take on Modern Coast Rangers but the match did not take play as the hosts opted to respect the government directive.Training… pic.twitter.com/0IhVrsurbE— Kisumu AllStars FC (@KisumuAllstars) September 24, 2021 For Babu, the directive came as a blessing in disguise as he says it will give his injured players like Ian Motanda time to recover from injuries that they are carrying.“I have a couple of injuries in my team and I think the two-week break will be beneficial in the essence that they will have time to recover and be ready for the tough assignments ahead, players like Ian (Motanda) needs a couple of weeks to be back to his best and I think the break will do him a lot of good. Although we could have wished for the league to continue, the stoppage is not entirely a negative thing,” he stated.All-Stars will resume training on Tuesday after a couple of days as Babu says he did not want to risk overtraining the players.“I gave them a few days off for them to just relax because we had prepared during pre-season well and we do not want to over-train when our next league assignment is in two weeks’ time. We will resume training on Tuesday and prepare well for our next assignment,” he added.
