Harambee Stars have wrapped their 2022 World Cup qualification campaign with a 2-1 win over Rwanda at the Nyayo National Stadium and here are the player ratings. James Saruni 6The Ulinzi Stars custodian returned in between the sticks after four matches in the cold as his last game was Stars final 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Togo. He did not have much to do in the game and its a shame that a lapse in concentration by the defence cost him a cleansheet. Amos Nondi 5The Georgia based defensive midfielder had yet another brilliant show despite being played out of position. He was faultless at the right back for the second game running. Abud Omar 5He defended resolutely but was let down by his skill in taking setpieces. He rarely made runs into the opponents half when he did, his crosses swayed far from the target, Olunga. Eric Ouma 6The Swedish based player marked his return to the team after missing the Uganda tie with terrific runs on the right wing. He swung in well weighted crosses early in the game and won a penalty in the 14th minute after he was tripped by the Rwandese custodian Ntwali Fiacre. He nearly made it three for the hosts in the 39th minute after Akumu had picked him but Ntwali had a slight touch on his shot, resulting to a corner. He was rested at halftime for Samuel Onyango. David Ochieng 6His experience was rife as he commanded the backline and occasionally came to the support of Okumu who had a torrid time in containing Sugira especially in the second half. Joseph Okumu 5He was booked for pulling Ernest Sugira’s shirt early in the second half after he was drawn out of position. He looked shaky in the second half after the Amavabu began pumping long balls into the area and nearly assisted what would have been their second goal after squaring the ball to Sugira’s way but his skied effort was a relieve to the former Chemelil Sugar defender. Richard Odada 5The Budding midfielder blasted open his goal account in the national team after he stepped up to send Ntwali the wrong way in the 15th minute after Marcelo was brought down in the area. He was booked two minutes into the second half for a tackle outside the box. He was substituted for Duke Abuya in the 80th minute. Anthony Akumu 6Covered the defence well by reading the opponent’s move and made timely interceptions. It is safe to observe that the midfield collapsed after he paved way for Anthony Wambani in the 61st minute. Kenneth Muguna 7Another game the Azam man will be proud of as he ferried the ball forward with ease. He assisted in defending in the second half after the midfield appeared to struggle once Akumu left the pitch. Abdallah Hassan 4Headed the ball into Michael Olunga’s path for the opening goal. The Bandari winger gave his marker an afternoon to forget but once again, his final ball was wanting. Michael Olunga 8The skipper took only three minutes to break the deadlock and take his tally in the qualifiers to three goals with his first touch of the ball. The former Gor Mahia man nearly doubled the lead in the tenth minute but his hard drilled shot was palmed for a corner. The former Gor forward was largely under fed in the second half. Samuel OnyangoThe Gor Mahia winger came on before restart for Eric Ouma and would be replaced with ten minutes to play for Timothy Ouma.
