After concluding the underwhelming Qatar World Cup qualifiers on a high, Kenyan international Michael Olunga is buoyant of Harambee Stars chances in future tournaments. Kenya had to wait till the last qualifier match to pick up their maiden victory after three draws and two losses which saw them finish third in Group E.Having also failed to secure a ticket to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, Olunga was optimistic that the experience gained from his compatriots will come in handy in future assignments. 🙏🏾🇰🇪 pic.twitter.com/nlAofZJOGj— MICHAEL OLUNGA (@OgadaOlunga) November 16, 2021 “The players really pushed themselves and we were able to get all the three points and it’s good to finish with a win. We continue to embark on future assignments and work hard to improve on our weaknesses and to try and perfect on our strengths,””Players have been given an opportunity to showcase their talents, the stage was big but I’m happy that most of them have received exposure and I believe going forward they will be ready for the next assignments,” said Olunga. Olunga netted three goals in the qualifiers, twice against Rwanda and in the 1-1 draw against Uganda becoming one of only two Kenyans to score in the campaign alongside Serbian based Richard Odada who converted a penalty in the final clash. The Al Duhail forward admitted that the game was played under pressure with the current football turmoil following the disbandment of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) but commended the players for bagging victory. Proud of every effort from the team Thank you Lord for the goal once again🇰🇪🇰🇪🙏🏾 pic.twitter.com/oRL8Vd19U2— MICHAEL OLUNGA (@OgadaOlunga) November 15, 2021 “I thank God for the three points, it was a difficult game especially in the second half but we managed to get the three points which is the most important thing, the game was played under difficult circumstances but I thank all players for the effort they have shown,””Most of the time in the qualifiers you have to put the effort in your home games,” said the 27-year-old forward.
