Promising St. Anthony’s Boys, Kitale and national U20 goalkeeper Issa Emuria has lauded the decision by the Ministry of Education to give internal and inter-school co-curricular activities and contests the greenlight to resume.The government while preparing for the re-opening of schools after the lengthy break occasioned by the threat posed by coronavirus suspended sporting activities amongst the institutions as a way of minimizing the spread of the virus.The decision was however heavily protested by a number of stakeholders among them in the International Schools Sports Federation but a ray of hope began to shine at the tail end of the tunnel when the Ministry alongside that of Sports came up with safety and health guidelines to guide the gradual and safe resumption of co-curricular activities in February.Emuria laments over the lost KSSSA calendarAfter months of wait, the Ministry of Education recommended that inter-school sporting activities to gradually resume albeit with strict adherence to the protocols shared early in the year.Emuria who is in his final year with Solidarity Boys said the move the government came at the right time and will restore hope to budding players who had been affected by the ban.” I am happy that the government lifted the ban on school games after a year of wait.
