Gor Mahia head coach Mark Harrison is confident his team will utilize the extended league break to make final preparations before travelling away to Congo where they are scheduled to take on Otoho d’Oyo in the first leg of their crucial CAF Confederation Cup play-off.While the ongoing debacle between the government and Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has led to the league being halted for two weeks by the FKF caretaker committee, Gor have been busy preparing for the away clash as they seek to make it to the prized group stages where only two matches stand between them.🟢 | ANNOUCEMENT It’s official… we take on AS Otoho d’Oyo of Congo in CAF Confed knock out stage; first leg set for November 28 ( away ). #Sirkal | #Betsafe | #TotalEnergiesCAFCC pic.twitter.com/YkbkvuYiY8— GOR MAHIA FC (@OfficialGMFC) October 26, 2021 With only ten days left before that first leg tie and no league commitments in between, Harrison cut an upbeat figure as he heaped praise on his side that have kept on doing what they need to do. Despite the worry of players losing the needed match fitness with games temporarily stopped across the country, the head coach allayed those fears as he said the record Kenyan champions have been busy holding friendly fixtures to overcome the challenge.”I do not think the break will have any effect on the team. We have been focusing on our business by playing friendly matches. We had one on Wednesday and we are hopefully going to play a couple more over the weekend in Kisumu. The players are in good shape and they look sharp to be fair to them. I am not too disturbed by the delay. It actually probably gives us more time to prepare because then I do not have the interference of that Wazito league game in between. We have gotten on with our job together with the players because the recent happenings are nothing we can control, so there is no need worrying about it,” Harrison told Mozzart Sport.Gor Mahia cleared to use Nyayo for CAF CC, Tusker still waitingHeading into the clash that takes place on Saturday 28 November, Harrison expressed hope in getting a good result in the first leg before returning to get the job done on home soil where the team has now been given clearance to play the match at the Nyayo National Stadium.”Our focus and priority is just on the game in Congo. I am looking forward to the first leg and I am hoping we can get something there, a good result, and hopefully come and finish the job here at home,” the head coach remarked.
