Just a day after Gor Mahia announced that they had been cleared by CAF to hold their CAF Confederation Cup playoff match against Congolese Outfit AS Otoho at Nyayo National Stadium, Tusker have also received the green light to host CS Sfaxien at the same venue according to the club chairman Daniel Aduda.Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Aduda said that securing the venue was the most important thing for the club, adding that they will now work towards having supporters allowed in the stadium.”We now have the clearance from CAF to play at Nyayo Stadium on November 28, 2021. That was the most important thing and now everything else will follow. We have about two weeks, 10 days, to make arrangements on having Kenyans in the stadium to support the team. We are within the timeframe stipulated in the guidelines by CAF and we will just do what other teams are doing to get the clearance. We are in very uncertain times as a country and that is why we do not want to rush things as a club,” Aduda said.Earlier this month, CAF released a circular with four guidelines on what needs to be met before fans are allowed into stadiums for CAF-related matches and Aduda is confident that they are within the timeframe.⚽️| The boys continued with the work ahead of upcoming assignments.#KenyaMilele #Brewers4Life pic.twitter.com/cV8D9y1Y2a— 🏆Tusker FC (@tusker_fc) November 16, 2021 On top of the list of requirements for approval was that the stadium where the match would be staged must have already been approved by CAF and a letter from local health authorities giving the green light to fans in stadia.“Be able to accommodate spectators in a stadium and meet all the requirements of FIFA/CAF (in the appendix as a reminder) and already be formally approved by CAF,”“Have presented to CAF a letter from the local health authorities of the venue planned for the match confirming that the presence of supporters is authorized and up to what number,”“Send to CAF evidence that all necessary measures to ensure compliance with the FIFA/CAF Covid-19 match protocol have been taken,”“Have appointed a National Safety and Security Officer (NSSO) for the organization of the match,” read part of the letter. On Wednesday, the Chairman had said that they had tuned their minds to hosting their match against the Tunisian club at the Azam Complex Stadium in Tanzania in the event that Nyayo would not be approved at all.😰| No pain no gain.#KenyaMilele #Brewers4Life pic.twitter.com/USSTYiQwBP— 🏆Tusker FC (@tusker_fc) November 16, 2021 Tusker start their campaign at home, just like they did in the qualifying round against Zamalek in the CAF Champions League, while Gor Mahia will kick off theirs away in Congo before playing the reverse fixtures exactly a week later. The recently refurbished Nyayo National Stadium had partially met the stadium requirements set by (CAF) while Kasarani Stadium failed totally to meet inspection requirements, leaving the two teams in limbo on where they would host their CAF Confederation Cup matches. In a letter seen by Mozzart Sport from CAF earlier, the two facilities were banned from hosting future CAF matches until the necessary recommendations were conducted but were allowed to host the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda earlier this week.
