Harambee Stars improve in latest FIFA Rankings

Following improved performances in the dead rubber FIFA Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Uganda and Rwanda, Harambee Stars have scaled two places in the latest FIFA Rankings. Kenya now sits 102 in the FIFA Rankings released on Friday 19 November as they reclaim their position held in the September rankings before dropping two places following their deflating back to back losses to Mali. 🇧🇪 Belgium hold off Brazil to stay top ✋🇳🇱 The Netherlands return to the top 10 🔙🇨🇦 #WCQ pace-setters Canada soar 📈🌍 See where your nation sits on the latest #FIFARanking 👇https://t.co/spQ1bRs0Q2 pic.twitter.com/qVlYmo3mzD— FIFA.com (@FIFAcom) November 19, 2021 Engin Firat’s charges were a whisker away from claiming a famous victory against Uganda Cranes at the St. Mary’s Kitende Stadium in Entebbe, Uganda but an 89th-minute howler from Brain Bwire meant that Stars settled for a 1-1 draw. The result all but ended Uganda’s slim hopes of claiming a playoffs slot as Mali went on to be Rwanda to book their place in the final CAF qualification round.Harambee Stars then finished their disappointing World Cup qualifier campaign on a high by claiming their maiden victory after edging Rwanda 2-1 courtesy of goals from Michael Olunga and Richard Odada.Despite their uninspiring international break Uganda still leads in the CECAFA region as they remain 82nd, followed by Kenya in 102 while Sudan comes in third in the region at 124th in the World.Having secured a place in the World Cup Playoffs, Senegal still remains the best ranked African nation as they sit 20th in the World followed by Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria who possess a 33-game unbeaten run with Nigeria completing the African top five. Asante Sana for your support through the qualifiers.A lot of lessons learned, and hopefully, we’ll be back stronger for the upcoming International window in February next year.#Tunaweza pic.twitter.com/jcQVb0tR3k— Harambee Stars (@Harambee__Stars) November 15, 2021 At the summit of the World still remain Belgium though their throne came under serious threat following their draw against Wales but second-placed Brazil also picked up a draw against arch-rivals Argentina. France who finished the qualifying campaign unscathed sit third on the world standings with England who were top scorers in the UEFA World Cup qualifying campaign coming in at fourth while European champions Italy who will need a playoff to qualify for World Cup coming in at fifth.
