Barcelona fans must be starting to believe that a spell has been cast on them. And not a nice spell either! After a bit of good news and the return of two fan favourites in Xavi Hernandez and Dani Alves, the Catalan club has been hit by their harsh realities again on Friday. Not only they cannot afford to sign new players in January, but they’re also struggling to keep their own players fit. After the devastating news about Sergio Aguero’s health problems, their talented midfielder Pedri has aggrieved his problematic muscle again and will have to sit out at least another month of action.🚨🚨🚨[ @esport3🥇] | Pedri has suffered a relapse, and may be out for another month. #FCBlive pic.twitter.com/IDPI8IxSyJ— BarçaTimes (@BarcaTimes) November 19, 2021 The 18-year-old initially picked up the injury in Barca’s Champions League fixture against Bayern Munich in September. Unfortunately, he was rushed back into action without healing completely. It didn’t look that bad initially and Barca were looking to just a few weeks without their little midfielder. But their foolishness was to prove more taxing. Pedri returned to light training in late October, but was almost immediately forced to stop again and undergo another series of examinations. Those scans showed that he had aggravated his injury and was likely to miss another month.More bad news for Barca: Aguero will miss at least THREE MONTHS of actionAccording to Catalunya Radio, it’s the exact same story again. Pedri was expected back soon but the latest round of scans have uncovered further problems with the same injury, and he’s now expected to miss yet another 30 days of action. He could miss five La Liga games – against Espanyol, Villarreal, Real Betis, Osasuna and Elche, as well as Champions League clashes with Benfica and Bayern. It could mean that 2021 is effectively over for the young Spain international. It’s going to be the first time that the youngster has had to miss so many games. He’s never had serious injuries up to this point. Last season he played an incredible 68 games for club and country last season, 54 of those as a starter.🚑 (PEDRI): Pedri will be out for 3-4 more weeks.• Until Wednesday he trained normally but has noticed bad feelings. This is a relapse of the injury to the quadriceps of his left leg.#FCB 🇪🇸Via (🟢): @santiovalle [ser] pic.twitter.com/yVABQkEBUU— Barça Buzz (@Barca_Buzz) November 19, 2021 New boss Xavi is determined to freshen up the club’s medical facilities and figure out why Barcelona have had so many bad injuries in recent seasons.
