Kariobangi Sharks winger Patrick Otieno is hoping that his injury nightmares will be a thing of the past once the currently suspended 2021/2022 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) gets underway.Since January in the 2020/2021 campaign, Otieno only made his full comeback from injury in October after suffering loads of setbacks that ruled him out for a majority of the campaign where he missed nine months of footballing action after being diagnosed with lateral meniscus tear of his right knee and partial anterior cruciate ligament injury that needed surgery.📰| Speedy winger Patrick Otieno returned to Matchday action after 309 days coming on as second half substitute in the 79th minute yesterday against Gor Mahia.#WeAreSharks #BetwaySharks pic.twitter.com/3dOw5nnBM9— Kariobangi Sharks FC (@k_sharksfc) October 28, 2021 However just three games after returning in the 2021/2022 season, the speedy winger managed to mark his return to the field by scoring a goal in Sharks’ last game just before the international break where they trounced reigning champions Tusker 3-0.Having been eased slowly into the fray, the midfielder is now hoping that what was once a dark path and a long nightmare that he never thought could see him play football again, will no longer cause him any more trouble as he wants to fully commit to just playing.“It has not been an easy journey for me at all. After I did my surgery I thought I would not play football ever again. Most of the time I was always frustrated and always just spent time in the house. I managed to get the motivation and the morale to push on from the physios and from my club members which really helped in this journey. That is why after scoring that goal against Tusker it meant a lot to me. I hope it will get me back on track and that my confidence will be restored,” the player told Mozzart Sport.🗞️| Speedy winger Patrick Otieno’s goal yesterday came after 330 days since his last one against Bidco United on 12th Dec,2020.💪🏿| A lengthy road to recovery it has been.#WeAreSharks #BetwaySharks pic.twitter.com/iDHuG1lIgE— Kariobangi Sharks FC (@k_sharksfc) November 8, 2021 With the league currently suspended following a directive from the government appointed FKF caretaker committee, Otieno will be hoping to pick up from where he left off when the season resumes once again on November 26. Currently, his side are in second place on 13 points, just one behind log leading Gor Mahia.
