What a come back after the international break. Goals galore, that is for sure, however what gets all the attention is another painful defeat of Manchester United – by none other than the relegation battling Watford. Final score at Vicarage Road – 4-1 as Claudio Ranieri shows how big his impact is on the Hornets. For a while now, Manchester United fans have lost any illusion or hope that with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, their team can be competitive in the fight for the title. The club management was tactical, saying that it was not the right time to replace the once great center forward, who is tarnishing his reputation week by week. They forgave him when Liverpool destroyed them, when Man City easily passed by them. But after the humiliation in Watford, it is hard to believe the Norwegian will stay at the Theatre of Dreams. What we are seeing from the beginning of the season is simply not United, nor does Solskjer show any indications that, in the foreseeable future, he could ‘patch the holes’. It seems strange, it sounds irritating for the fans of the former European champion, but United can consider themselves fortunate for conceding only four. Watford were in their element, especially in the first half with the broken and melancholic Solskjaer squad. United with Jadon Sancho and Nemanja Matic in the starting lineup looked formless. It was a one-sided game. Watford showed a wide range of offensive qualities, relying on Joshua King’s resourcefulness, Ismaila Sarr’s speed and Kiko’s crosses. Were it not for David De Gea, Watford would have achieved one of the most significant victories in the club’s history. The Spanish keeper managed to deflect two penalties in the opening section of the match, throwing Sarr into despair. But his great defenses did not infect the rest of United’s team with aggression and desire.Cristiano Ronaldo was off-rhythm, Bruno Fernandes was a mere shadow of the player from last season, and the desire of Sancho did not help. It seemed that Watford had more players on the pitch, the home team was constantly faster, the midfield of United could not reach any of the lose balls. In the 28th minute, Dennis broke through on the right side, sent in a perfect cross, King connected nicely and found the net. How United played is illustrated by another fact – in the first half hour, the Hornets shot ten times towards the goal of De Gea. It was a proper exercise of modern football and Manchester’s hopelessness. The agony deepened in the finish of the first half when Sarr hit a further corner of the goal and practically knocked out United.Instead of the confused McTominey, Solskjaer brought in van de Beek at the beginning of the second half. It was pretty much the only good move by Solskjaer. After only five minutes of the game, the former Ajax midfielder used a good move by Cristiano Ronaldo and scored. Ronaldo had a few more notable moves, but it was just not enough to wake up the rest of the team.United showed some signs of a possible comeback but it was all slowed down by the mistake of Harry Maguire, who collected his second yellow card in the 69th minute. Despite that, United continued to play with a lot of risk. Ronaldo created a colossal chance for Bruno Fernandes, but the younger Portuguese was not accurate.United suffered their third defeat in the last four Premier League matches. It is just too much for Solskjaer to be forgiven again. Especially since, in the 90th minute, Joao Pedro and Dennis both scored to infuriate Man United supporters.Elsewhere, legendary Liverpool midfielder and former Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard had a great day. On his debut as Aston Villa manager, Villains defeated Brighton and can welcome their next matches somewhat more relaxed (2-0).Stevie G had to wait until the finish, considering that Brighton proved to be a very solid opponent in Birmingham. The guests resisted for a long time, but Gerrard’s team showed patience. He waited for a moment of great inspiration from Ollie Watkins, who took the ball and scored a beautiful solo goal in the 84th minute. Tyrone Mings scored the second in Gerard’s first triumph in the Premier League.Burnley and Crystal Palace greeted everyone with a spectacle. Six goals and a deserved draw for both sides – 3: 3.Already in the eighth minute, Christian Benteke gave the advantage to Crystal Palace, but Burnley answered 11 minutes later. Westwood’s assist was converted into a goal by Ben Mee. Burnley managed to turn it around thanks to Chris Wood, but that was only the beginning of excitement. With a new goal, in the 36th minute, Benteke brought an equalizer to Palace, and in the 42nd minute, the guests answered with a turnaround – Guehi scored for 3-2.As soon as the second half started, in the 49th minute, Burnley returned. The goal for 3-3 was scored by Cornet. Tarkovski recorded his second assist of the match.Kante’s wonder goal tops the brilliant Chelsea display against LeicesterWe saw a similar scenario in the duel between Newcastle and Brentford. The Magpies were again left without a victory, so they are still nailed to the bottom of the Premier League table.Newcastle were in front after only ten minutes with a goal by captain Jamal Lascelles. Not a minute passed when Ivan Toney replied. The guests reached a turning point in the 31st minute, a beautiful goal was scored by Rico Henry.Newcastle had to constantly chase after the rival. After Onyeka’s goal, the host had the strength for another goal. Everything was done perfectly by Alan Saint-Maximin, but Newcastle did not have the strength for the final turnaround.PREMIER LEAGUE – Round 12SaturdayLeicester – Chelsea 0-3 (0-2)/Rudiger 14.
