Tobias Otieno came off the bench to score the last goal as 10-man Union Omaha beat Greenville Triumph 3-0 to be crowned the 2021 United States League (USL) League One Champions following their victory in the finale played in the wee hours of Sunday morning at Werner Park Stadium.Being the side that finished with the best record in the regular campaign, Omaha managed to cap off that fine performance by making history as they won their first USL League One title.In the final, the former Gor Mahia midfielder watched much of the proceedings from the substitutes bench before being thrown into action with only three minutes left in regular time as he replaced Ferretty Sousa. After the red card, Greenville’s tactician John Harkes threw in more fresh legs as they sought to take advantage of their numbers but Omaha retained their defensive shape.This was the second goal for Otieno in the season, having scored against Richmond Kickers in October in the regular season to inspire his team to a quick turn around to secure a win in 3 minutes.Elsewhere, Joseph Okumu and Arnold Origi featured full minutes as Hodd IF and KAA Gent respectively recorded identical 2-1 wins on Saturday night in their respective leagues against Arendal and Zulte Waregem respectively.Robin Hjelmeseth scored the opener for Hodd in the 22 minute with Magnus Nybakken Bruun-Hansen doubling the advantage in the 59 minute as Håvard Meinseth came off the bench to score the consolation for Arendal in the 74th minute.After playing to a barren first half, KAA Gent started the second half positively, scoring in the 10th minute of the period.Vadis Odjigja-Ofoe scored from a Nurio Fortuna pass with Laurent Depoitre doubling the advantage 20 minutes later, again being set up by Fortuna as Zinho Gano grabbed the consolation for the host with 8 minutes left to play.
