Despite an outstanding array of talent, Wazito have underperformed in the opening six games of the season with skipper Johnstone Omurwa pegging their struggles to injuries and failure to quickly gel.##NAJAVA_MECA_5998691##The Moneybags currently sit second from bottom in the standings without a win having only picked up two points from draws against Kariobangi Sharks and league new boys FC Talanta.Johnstone Omurwa and Cliff Nyakeya have been named in Harambee Stars’ final squad that will play Uganda on Thursday in Kampala.Congratulations and good luck lads.#Wazito4life pic.twitter.com/HaatJe5Jv9— Wazito Football Club (@wazitofc) November 10, 2021 Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Omurwa revealed that their poor start to the season has been down to the team having a number of players on the treatment table and the team having a number of new players.“The team had a number of injuries, there are certain areas of the pitch that we had not clicked but I feel with his break we have worked on all those issues,”“Apart from injuries we had new players who were coming into the team the only positive is that we were creating chances which is a good thing, when you don’t create chances it is always a concern,” said Omurwa. Wazito made a number of signings in the offseason transfer window most notably, Cliff Nyakeya, Amos Ekhalie, John Kuol, James Kinyanjui and Tyson Otieno.Full timeWazito FC 0-2 KCBA frustrating afternoon at the Kasarani Stadium ends in defeat. #Wazito4life pic.twitter.com/S7wTlIOKgk— Wazito Football Club (@wazitofc) November 5, 2021 The former Mathare United centre back added that the team can turn their fortunes around should they work on scoring goals and tightening their rear end. “We now have to work on converting the chances because you can always defend a lead but we have scored very less goal, and we have not had a consistent back four which led to us letting in a lot of goals,” added Omurwa.
