Relegated Kericho based side Zoo FC is using the temporary suspension of the National Super League (NSL) to fix loose ends and to hone their match sharpness before action gets back underway. For the first time in November since May 2021, Zoo managed to play football again after they were suspended from the top tier Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) to the NSL by world football governing body FIFA after being found culpable for activities related to manipulation of football matches and competitions.Zoo FC expelled from FKFPLIn their first match in the second tier, the Herman Iswekha coached side played to a 1-1 draw against Kisumu All Stars at the Kericho Green Stadium, a match that the head coach says they really struggled to come alive following the long period they went through without football.“That first game was a true test for us because in the opening half we were completely outplayed and nowhere to be seen. In the second half, we improved but you could see we are still far off after the long break we went without playing and considering we also did not have very good preseason preparation,” Iswekha told Mozzart Sport.FT| It ends with a draw here at Kericho Green StadiumZoo 1-1 Kisumu All Stars#fcukzoo— Zoo FC (@zoofootballclub) November 6, 2021 However, with the league currently suspended by the FKF caretaker committee, the head coach is optimistic that his team will utilize the break to rectify the loose ends and to get themselves in perfect conditions as they plot their way out of the second tier and into the top flight once again.“What we are doing right now is using this break to ensure that we hit top gear by the time the league is back. We had a number of injuries who we are also nursing currently and we hope they will be back in time. We have also organized some friendly matches that we intend to use to gauge ourselves,” the head coach added. Its a new week with new focus and Resolve… Having been in the cold for long,Waters have have been tasted already!
