Shabana FC head coach Robert Ojienda says he noted a lot of positives in his side’s friendly match against Gor Mahia on Saturday at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu County. With all leagues suspended in the country, the two sides faced off in a friendly match in Kisumu. Unlike in the past where two teams were fierce rivals in Kenya’s top tier, Shabana is currently a shell of its former self and has unsuccessfully tried to earn promotion back to the FKF Premier League severally. On Saturday, the two teams faced off and at full time, the record league champions registered a 2-1 win in a match that was largely dominated by Mark Harisson’s boys. Despite going down in the game, Ojienda, who has been rebuilding after losing nearly all his first XI players says he is proud of his boys’ performance against the Kenyan giants, he added that there are a lot of positives to pick from his team’s show.Appreciation Post.✅Youngest player in today’s squad.✅ Right Back fantastic✅Scored against Gor Mahia and opened his scoring accountLadies and gentlemen he his none other than FREDRICK ONYANGO AKA OnyiiiiBeki wa kupanda na kushuka. pic.twitter.com/f1Dy1kESuG— Shabana Fc Kenya (@Shabanafckenya) November 20, 2021 “It was a great performance against a team that is playing in the continental arena, the boys gave a good account of themselves in that game and I am really proud of them, there are a lot of positives to pick from the match,” he told Mozzart Sport.Ojienda further noted that his team followed instructions to the later, denying Gor Mahia many clear-cut chances in the match. He however noted that they still have to improve on their transition which he believes is still not good enough.“The two goals that we conceded were largely from mistakes that we made at the back. Apart from that, I don’t think that they really created any clear-cut chances. My boys followed instructions well. Overall it was a good show but there are things like the transition that we still need to work on,” he added.💬 “Thank you so much for your support, your energy and your belief…”~ Robert Ojienda Head CoachGood things will be coming our way with Robert Ojienda on the wheels💪💪💪 pic.twitter.com/yIaoQ2Lyac— Shabana Fc Kenya (@Shabanafckenya) November 20, 2021
