Young Ingwe custodian tipped for greatness

AFC Leopards’ new goalkeeper Levis Opiyo has labelled young custodian Maxwel Mulili one for the future as he tipped the youngster to reach for the stars and even scale the heights of being called up to the senior men’s national football team Harambee Stars in the next two to three years possibly. With the likes of first choice goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan, John Oyemba and Ezekiel Owade having left the club before the start of the new season, Mulili was thrown straight into the deep end at the start of the 2021/2022 Football Kenya Federation Premier League as Ingwe’s first choice goalkeeper without massive experience under his belt. Our number oneMaxwell Muchesia Mulili#OursForever pic.twitter.com/29Q9WwMizj— AFC Leopards (@AFCLeopards) October 1, 2021 While it has been a steep learning curve for the young shot stopper after some of his performances came under scathing remarks especially in a previous match against Ulinzi Stars gifted the Soldiers an easy lead, Opiyo has backed up the goalkeeper and tipped him to achieve so much more in his career should he keep putting the hard work.##NAJAVA_MECA_6000797##The goalkeeper went on to state that having passed through the hands of their experienced former keepers should also work to Mulili’s benefit as he has seen where he needs to be.“Mulili is a great upcoming goalkeeper. In the next near future, maybe two or three years, we might even see him with the national team if he keeps putting in the hard work. Before me, he had experienced players like Benjamin Ochan and John Oyemba and he learnt a lot from them. At least he has shown his potential when he was handed game time at the start of the season. What we can do is just to keep pushing him to work hard because he is a good goalkeeper,” the former Gor Mahia and Wazito player told Mozzart Sport.Kenya U17 keeper Maxwell Mulili joins @AFCLeopards on a long-term deal. pic.twitter.com/TyK1SPNhHi— Ole Teya (@Kevin_teya) August 19, 2019 The young Ingwe goalkeeper has represented the country on national junior sides such as the U-20 and U-17 but is yet to come close to the senior team.On his part, having joined Ingwe at the start of November on the eve of the transfer window closure, Opiyo, who has only played one game before the league was suspended after the international break, stated that pause in momentum will not affect him too much as his disciplined workout routine that should see him ready when the league resumes.“As usual, I am still keeping up with my fitness routine even with the league suspended. On top of that, we are also training as a team as well which we are using to stay sharp,” he added.TEAM NEWS Marvin Nabwire is our new Captain Our new acquisitions Levis Opiyo, Joachim Oluoch and Ojo Olaniyi start as Collins Milimu gets a place on the benchWe play Sofapaka FC, the match kicks of at 3.00pm#Betsafe#OursForever #INGWE pic.twitter.com/4Ax5aCxJ6C— AFC Leopards (@AFCLeopards) November 7, 2021
