Check the yardage book at Wynn Golf Club for The Match: DeChambeau vs. Koepka

Friday’s pairing of Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau promises to be a different kind of The Match in Las Vegas, and likewise, the course won’t be a typical 18-hole setup. The twosome faces only 12 of the 18 holes at Wynn Golf Club, and they won’t play them in any kind of standard order.

With an emphasis on pretty settings, drama, and holes that will play long enough for the PGA Tour bombers, the 12-hole Match layout will be set up with the Wynn’s holes in this order: Nos. 16, 3, 12, 13, 11, 5, 14, 9, 7, 8, 18 and 17.

The Wynn course sits on the former site of the Desert Inn Golf Club just off the Las Vegas Strip. Steve Wynn purchased the resort in 2000, and the Tom Fazio-designed Wynn Golf Club opened in 2005. But that layout was shuttered in 2017 as the operators of the adjacent Wynn Las Vegas hotel and casino considered other uses for the land.

After scrapping plans to build a lagoon on the site with new hotel rooms and restaurants, Fazio and his son, Logan, were called to breathe fresh life into the abandoned track just the length of a par-4 away from the Strip. Wynn Golf Club reopened in 2019 with eight new and 10 refurbished holes, including one of the most over-the-top 18th holes anyone has ever dreamed up – a 249-yard par 3 over a pond with a massive waterfall directly behind the putting service. That hole (pictured atop this story) will play as No. 11 of 12 in The Match.
