Speedy Wazito attacking midfielder Kennedy ‘Daddy’ Owino can’t wait to make terrific runs down the right wing in the second leg of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League after almost two years out of competitive football. Owino last featured in a league match in February last year against Kakamega Homeboyz at the Bukhungu Stadium, a game that didn’t end well for him as he picked what initially appeared to be a slight knee injury. ##NAJAVA_MECA_6000766##The knock was supposed to keep him out for a couple of days but hell broke loose when he aggravated it while desperately trying to return to action and a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan conducted after the limb nearly turned immobile confirmed his fear. The former KCB man who was barely two months old at the club by the time he picked the injury revealed that the scan showed a tear on his left leg Anterior Cruciate Ligaments (ACL) that could only be repaired through surgery.KCB’s Kennedy Owino scored six goals during the 2018/19 SPL season as the Bankers finished 10th with 45 points from 34 matches https://t.co/kkwoSEOQp6 #SPL pic.twitter.com/PqGJjGDbtM— KPL (@TheOfficialKPL) July 8, 2019 Owino says it took him almost a year to resign to the fate that facing the knife was inevitable and finally had a date with the surgeon in May this year and subsequently, began his rehabilitation program after the wound had healed. The former Nakuru All Stars man is now set to resume training with the rest in January after overcoming the setback and will be available for selection in the second leg of the season. “I am almost completing my rehabilitation sessions. The doctor says by January, I will be fit enough to train with the team again after almost two years. When I got injured, the medics thought that rehabilitation would get me back on my feet but the situation worsened later and later, the scans showed that I had tore my ligaments. It took me long to accept the date with the surgeon, ” he narrated.Having watched his colleague Anthony Njeru resume training last week after recovering from a similar injury, the St. Joseph Youth Academy graduate was optimistic of following suit and returning to do what he loves most. Owino in the meanwhile thanked Wazito for taking care of the medical bills and remitting salary despite not serving them on the pitch.Anthony Njeru is backhttps://t.co/EbE8Rph7Dp via @MozzartSportKe— Meshack Kisenge (@kisengemeshack1) November 8, 2021 “Njeru used to accompany me in the rehabilitation sessions and his full recovery left me assured that I will also be cleared in January. My gratitude goes to my employer for being there for me at the darkest hour and offering me a shoulder to lean on throughout, ” he added.
