Controversial FKF president Nick Mwendwa arrested, again

Controversial Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nicholas Kithuku Mwendwa alias Nick Mwendwa has been arrested again by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).The embattled administrator who also owns Kariobangi Sharks was picked up along Kiambu Road while attending to his businesses by DCI sleuths who whisked him away in their much dreaded Subaru Outbacks.Mwendwa’s latest arrest comes two days after the judiciary dismissed the DCI’s wish to hold him in custody until they firm up a cogent criminal case. His tribulations with the law have already seen him miss the Confederation of African Football (CAF) General Assembly currently going on in Egypt. In a carbon copy of last week’s occurrences, Mwendwa is expected to spend the weekend in police cells before being presented before court on Monday. The embattled Mwendwa and FKF are bearing the brunt of the government after a wonderful honeymoon in which Ministry of Sports doled out millions of shilling to the federation for national team preparations and use.A fractious aftermath saw the Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed eject Mwendwa and his National Executive Committee out of football management and in their stead placed a Caretaker Committee headed by retired judge Aaron Ringera.
