Who is new Manchester United interim coach? Ralf Rangnick is a German version of Marcelo Bielsa: a visionary who influenced world’s best coaches, and yet had mixed results as coach himself. While Pep Guardiola, Mauricio Pochettino and Zinedine Zidane credit Bielsa for their tactical ideas, Jurgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel and Julian Nagelsmann credit Rangnick for the same influence. The German manager will become Manchester’s interim coach until June 2022, which was confirmed by his lawyer. Rangnick’s legal representative confirmed to AFP that the final points of the deal are being ironed out. The 63-year-old Rangnick is currently head of sports and development at Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow, where he signed a three year contract just four months ago.Man United apply the Blues formula – sack a club legend, hire a German, hope for the bestThe deal should be formalized ahead of Chelsea game on Sunday, and according to reports from Manchester, Rangnick has being given access to United’s training sessions from an array of different camera angles so he can familiarize himself with the players & work before he arrives in bid to hit ground running. The German struck a deal with the Red Devils to stay for two more years in the club as an advisor, which was his main request, and the United board accepted that. It’s a well known fact that Rangnick wants as much control as possible whenever he goes, but with United he got only advisory role, and so far, nobody knows in what capacity. His philosophy clearly worked for Hoffenheim and Leipzig, but in Locomotive Moscow, he turned around a well organized club just to force in his way, and he is now leaving after only four months.Rangnick: “You need to be aware what kind of football you really want to play. A little bit of pressing? Come on, what is a little bit of pressing? A little bit of pressing is like a little bit of pregnant. Either you are pregnant or not? Either you want to play pressing or not?”— James Ducker (@TelegraphDucker) November 26, 2021 From Rangnick, you can only expect one thing: gegenpressing. The idea of high pressing football came to him partly after facing Dynamo Kyiv in 1983 in a friendly match, and he continued to work on it for years to come.“Our idea is clear: it’s very, very similar to my almost-coaching friend Jurgen Klopp. Our football is very heavy metal, rock and roll and it’s not slow balls. It’s not square passes, back passes. Just having the ball ourselves doesn’t make sense” said the German in an interview with the Coaches Voice in September.Pogba 5 mins into Ragnick’s new regime #MUFC pic.twitter.com/fz45mCVXDY— Duttsville Bitch (@BigTeezo) November 25, 2021 He also explained his views as director of football using his ‘three Cs’ to inspire success.“Capital is a limited-success factor. Alone, it is far from enough. What’s more, concept and competence, if you use them well, will generate capital. The three Cs go together, hand in hand – and the chances of real success increase if all three Cs come together” said Ralph.Ralf Rangnick commenting on Man United’s squad last season 👀 pic.twitter.com/bTmdPk0sEa— ESPN FC (@ESPNFC) November 25, 2021 Future Manchester interim coach also talked about Champions League winner Thomas Tuchel.“Thomas became a coach through me. He was my player at Ulm and had to finish his career because of knee problems. I gave him a job as our under-15 coach. He didn’t even intend being a coach, he was working at a bar in Stuttgart. If you watch Chelsea now you see a mutual plan for when they have the ball or the other team have the ball. Thomas is tactically on a very sophisticated level” Rangnick recently told The Times.Nagelsmann on Ralf Rangnick to Manchester United: “I texted him & told him I think it’s great. He will do United very well with the way he plays football. I believe that United will play good games in the next few weeks and I wish he’ll stay there longer than just next summer” pic.twitter.com/SpH8kWJKtn— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) November 26, 2021 Another top German coach, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp described Rangnick as ‘one of the best, if not the best German coach’, but obviously was not happy that he is in the Premier League.“Yeah, unfortunately a good coach is coming to England so that’s how it is, to Manchester United. Ralf is obviously a very experienced manager, built two clubs from nowhere to proper threats and proper forces in Germany in Hoffenheim and Leipzig. Been to lot of different jobs in football but always first concern actually was being a coach, being a manager and that’s what his best skill is. United will be organised on the pitch I think we should realise that and obviously not good news for other teams. But all the coaches in the world need time to train with our teams and Ralf will quickly realise he has no time to train as they play all the time but other than is a really good man and outstanding coach if it happens will come to England” warned Klopp. So, you can imagine that soon, Pogba and Bruno Fernandes will have to press for 90 minutes, Ronaldo included too. Will it be possible? Sit back and enjoy.
